Domain Names

Domain essentially the address of a website on the internet. It is the part of the URL that identifies where a particular website is located. For example, in the URL https://www.example.com, “example.com” is the domain name.

Domains are categorized into several types

Top-Level Domains (TLDs)

These include .com, .net, .org, and country-specific TLDs like .la, .uk, and etc.

Second-Level Domains

This is the name that you choose for your website, like “example” in example.com.

Subdomains

These are extensions of your domain name that can help organize your website. For example, blog.example.com or shop.example.com, or clients.example.com.

Domains are registered through domain registrars, and owning a domain means you have exclusive rights to use that particular address for a certain period with minimum of a year up to 10 years based on your registrar plans.
